Jonathan Feltham (1478)
and his Uncle William Henry Feltham (1477),
both of Glovertown, Bonavista Bay, enlisted in the NOFU and travelled together
on the same ship to Scotland,
arriving at Glasgow on February 9th, 1940. Henry was assigned to
work as a camp cook, and he arranged to have Jonathan work with him as
his helper.
Jonathan fell ill shortly
after their arrival, and died from tubercular meningitis at Culduthil Hospital
in Inverness on March 26, 1940. He was
buried at Carrbridge Cemetery
on March 28th. He was not yet eighteen when he left home. Here are some
very touching letters written home by
Jonathan and his uncle.

provided by Ivy Levoy of Pembroke, Ontario. Ivy is Jonathan's younger sister.
