Remembering Stan Rogers

Hard to believe, but this June marks the 25th anniversary of the
death of Stan Rogers, a songwriting and performing hero to many of us.
With the kind permission of Stan's family, Folk Night at the Registry is honoured
to present an evening of Stan's music. Join us as we remember
Stan in song, story, and photographs.Stan Rogers produced 5 amazing albums before his untimely death in 1983, with another 4 released posthumously. With songs like The Mary Ellen Carter, Northwest Passage, Barrett's Privateers, and Lies, Stan Rogers crafted some of the finest music in the Canadian songbook. Northwest Passage was voted the fourth "most essential" song in Canadian music history. Stan and his music have been the subjects of a biography ("An Unfinished Conversation"), several tribute albums, and a stage play ("A Matter of Heart"). His music continues to be discovered by, and to inspire, new generations of Canadians.
This year Stan Rogers is the honouree of both the SOCAN Lifetime achievement award, and the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals Estelle Klein award. Stan also has a plaque on Ottawa's Canadian Folk Music Walk of Fame, directly outside of the Ottawa Folklore Centre.
Performing at this concert, separately and together in a workshop style, will be:
