Topics covered include types and
causes of defects and deficiencies, the investigation process, repair,
replacing and strengthening techniques, structural aspects, wall anchoring,
grouting core rubble, cleaning, repointing, and protective surface treatments.
Case studies will be used to highlight restoration failures and accelerated
deterioration that can often be caused by the selection of incorrect materials
and techniques.

Condition
Assessment of Concrete Structures
A
Two-day Course presented by Dalhousie University’s College of Continuing
Education which has been developed to cover the current state-of-the-art for
the condition assessment of concrete structures. It includes comprehensive
information concerning methods, techniques and practices for developing the
various components of a program – including monitoring, investigation, testing
and the development of intervention strategies. The way in which maintenance
and structural evaluations interact within a well-developed program are also
discussed.
The
methods presented for the development of effective condition assessment
programs are applicable for all types of concrete structures, including marine
and highway structures, dams, wastewater facilities, parking structures, buildings,
etc..
