Discography

SUPERWOMAN

(1985, Cass. only)

Includes: Duncan's Cove, Calling to the Moon, Loon Instrumental, Wind Adagio, I Used to be a Singer, Listen, Blue Skies, Superwoman, Not a Love Story (from the NFB film of the same name), Song for Jan, Four a.m.

"This album (my first), was inspired by many camping trips to Taylor Lake in the Gatineau Hills outside of Ottawa. Several of the songs were written there. Produced by Ian Tamblyn, and featuring musicians such as Ian Robb (concertina), Roy Forbes (guitar), Lynn Miles (background vocals). A very acoustic/folk album with many pastoral overtones."

FOOTPRINTS ON THE MOON

(1989, LP and Cass.)

Includes: How Much Are the Blues, Last Day of Pompeii, Someone Else is Stepping In, There's No Guarantee, (If It Weren't For) Those Tears, Footprints on the Moon, Since I Fell for You, Living on the Edge, Heart Calls, Love Letters in the Snow

"This is the jazzy album. Once again, produced marvellously by Ian Tamblyn in Ottawa, it features a Michael Smith song (Pompeii) and an old jazz standard (Since I Fell), tasteful tenor sax by Brian Tansley of Ottawa. Other than the two mentioned, all other songs are original. It was recorded live in the studio with a minimum of overdubs, and therefore, has a very warm, flexible feel to it."

DANCE BENEATH THE MOON

(1991, CD and Cass.)

Includes: Dance Beneath the Moon, Ride the Wind, Smith Boys (by Mary Simpson), Living in the Martinique, I Had a House, Desert Dancing, Empty in the Sunrise, No Point of View, Two People, Indian Summer, In a Perfect World

"This album was recorded after I moved to Calgary, and therefore features a new set of musicians and Les Siemieniuk (soon to be formerly of CBC Calgary fame) as producer. The songs are more political than on previous projects, focussing on spousal abuse, homelessness, native issues, etc. There are still a few songs about relationships. Dance Beneath the Moon, the title track, was written the day after Calgary folk-proponents Bob deWolff and Louise Parsons got married. It was played at my wedding by the aforementioned Bob with Tom Wilson (excellent country/bluegrass songwriter from Calgary) on lead vocals."

TONIGHT IS FOR CHRISTMAS

(with WRITERS BLOC, OTTAWA; Cass. only)

Includes: Tonight is for Christmas, Santa Chants His Mantra

"Two songs on a compilation cassette with members of Ottawa's Writers Bloc (including Terry Tufts, Lynn Miles, Alex Sinclair). Our first release! Writers Bloc is still in existence without the original members -- it is a constantly evolving entity, dedicated to furthering the cause and skill of songwriters in the Ottawa area."

Trilogy - TWO THOUSAND YEARS OF CHRISTMAS

(1996, CD and Cass., with Eileen McGann and David K)

Includes: O Magnum Mysterium Down In Yon Forest Gloucester Wassail Brightest & Best Coventry Carol Cherry Tree Carol Huron Carol Who's The Fool Now? Dona Nobis Pacem Light From The Lighthouse Tonight Is For Christmas Turn It Around New Star Shining Snow Shanty Christmas In The Trenches You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch Rejoice! Rejoice!

"This is the soundtrack to our highly-acclaimed concert/theatrical presentation that tours the country every December. It features rare and wonderful songs about our most popular holiday, and through songs and stories, explains from whence our traditions come. The first act of the show features music from the tradition, some of it going back to the 14th century. The second act brings the traditions up to date, and contains modern songs about the season. This CD was really well received in its first year, and promises to be a seasonal favourite."
